Holidays in Spotorno and Surroundings
Villages and towns close to the camping site.
Spotorno.
Spending your holidays in Spotorno means most of all to enjoy a fantastic seaside. Thanks to the wide coast of finest sand or the smallest gravel, Spotorno is the perfect destination for your sunbath on the beach while a nice breeze from the sea helps you stay cool.
Its wonderful gulf with the distinct silhouette of the Bergeggi island (Protected Marine Area loved by divers throughout the year, and in summer by the snorkeling enthusiasts), is a seaside resort of constantly growing importance in the region of the Ligurian Riviera.
When you walk through the historic centre you will find picturesque corners with terraces in full bloom and small squares with shops alongside ateliers, but the town offers also boutiques, elegant bars, ice cream parlors and well-known restaurants where you can try some specialties of the Ligurian cuisine and not just that. Let’s not forget about the romantic so-called “Caruggi”, the narrow streets between the houses painted in the typical Ligurian colours.
Spotorno also has a beautiful seaside with its characteristic palmtrees, which turns into a romantic scene especially once the moon is up. You can reach Bergeggi as well as the ancient Marine Republic of Noli.
Noli.
Noli is an enchanting village situated in the gulf which shares its name.
The sea touches wonderful beaches where during summer time you find one established bathing next to the other, each of them distinguished by their colourful sunshades.
There are also fantastic free beaches, like the small one by the docks at the end of the town.
In Noli you can breathe history: in 1192, the town became the capital of the Marine Republic of Noli (until 1797) and during this period defied also powerful forces such as Genoa.
Villages and towns within driving distance (car or bus).
Varigotti.
Varigotti is a picturesque village in Saracen style and beautifully preserved: a network of small streets between the colourful houses (the classic Ligurian colours range from ochre to pink) displaying Moorish architecture, lead the visitors directly to the beach.
A must see for its extraordinary architecture as well as some sights of profound cultural importance: the medieval church of San Lorenzo, the Saracen Tower, and the ruins of the Byzantine castle.
Varigotti is, for sure, a stunning site to see.
Finale Ligure and its medieval village.
Finale Ligure (about 20 km away from Spotorno) is a typical Riviera town: endless beaches (free as well as private ones), a seaside with palmtrees, boutiques, souvenir shops, kiosks on the beach, bars and typical restaurants.
But the true pearl is the medieval village, which got listed as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
It’s a true epicentre for outdoor activities which this region has become so famous for.
Let’s go shopping.
If you wish to spend a day shopping (in case of bad weather for example) or if you just need to buy something, we recommend you check out the Shopping Center Molo 8.44 in Vado Ligure (only 15 minutes of driving distance from the camping site).
